Dr. Mitsuhiko Ikura Appointed as Interim Research Director at The Princess Margaret

Dr. Mitsuhiko Ikura has been appointed the new Interim Research Director at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Dr. Ikura, a Senior Scientist at The Princess Margaret, takes over from Dr. Rama Khokha.

“I would like to thank Rama Khokha for her dedicated service in this role over the past year. I would also like to thank PM researchers for their support during these transitions. I am thrilled to be appointed to this position and will be serving the PM community in this role until a permanent Director comes on board,” Ikura told staff in an e-mail.

Dr. Brad Wouters, the Executive Vice-President of Science and Research with UHN, said Ikura will be an “excellent leader.”

“Mitsu has been a highly respected member of the research executive committee for many years, a member of the Research Council on Oncology, and is a key member of our search committee.”

Dr. Ikura is also a Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Cancer Structural Biology at the University of Toronto.
