Board Chair’s Message

More than 60 years ago, a provincial cancer hospital opened on Sherbourne Street in downtown Toronto. Now, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is recognized as one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. How did that transformation occur? It’s the result of exceptional leadership in research, education and clinical care, in partnership with a Foundation that has engaged a broad community of supporters.

This has been a year of outstanding accomplishments for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, raising a record-breaking $112.1 million. We continue to execute with excellence in our core fundraising programs. The Home Lottery had another record year raising $29.7 million. And our Major and Estate Giving team raised a phenomenal $50 million in philanthropic funds. Our major events, Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer, Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer and community programs continue to bring together thousands of people for a unique experience.

We have also embarked on a remarkable space transformation to improve care and the patient experience at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The $50 million campaign will transform the physical space at the Cancer Centre and facilitate clinical research.

With an ambitious goal to raise $150 million in net fundraising revenue by 2022, the Foundation will continue to fuel vital cancer research, innovative care and education at The Princess Margaret.

Thank you again for your continued support as we unite to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime.
